Long-term Sustainability

In the daily and long-term management of our grounds and buildings, we maintain high standards of sustainability and energy conservation, and strive to continue improving. One of the most impactful ways we demonstrate our long-term commitment is through our recent green construction projects.

Green Construction

For decades, the facilities management staff at Duquesne has been guided by our commitment that all new construction and renovations to existing buildings follow sustainable best practices. Whether pursuing LEED Certification, Energy Star ratings, innovative concepts of passive-house or WELL-building design by incorporating sustainable materials, energy efficient systems, or specialized design features our commitment is to improve campus operations in a sustainable way.

Our phased renovations to Rockwell Hall, recently completed constuction of the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse, or the ongoing construction of the proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine are excellent examples of our visible work with design partners and contractors who share our committment to sustainable best practices.
