Biography

John Moyer is a vocal coach and staff pianist at the Mary Pappert School of Music.  He has previously taught diction and repertoire classes for singers (2002-2014) and was pianist for the opera workshop (1979-2016).  He has also served as accompanist in the music department at the University of Pittsburgh with Claudia Pinza and Richard Teaster.  He has worked for Pittsburgh Opera (chorus accompanist), Operalogue programs with Mija Novich, Pittsburgh Opera Center under Tito Capobianco, Carnegie-Mellon University (staff pianist), and Opera Theater of Pittsburgh with Gary Race.

Mr. Moyer has performed with the Pittsburgh Concert Society, the Alliance Francaise, and the Sweetwater Arts Center in Sewickley.  He was music director and pianist for the world premiere of Jeremy Beck's "The Biddle Boys and Mrs. Soffel" for the Tuesday Musical Club of Pittsburgh (2001) and was pianist for the first English-language performances of Menotti's "The Telephone" and "The Medium" in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria with the D.U. Opera Workshop under Guenko Guechev.
