Biography

Kristyn Lowery is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Duquesne University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and completed her Master of Physician Assistant degree in 2004. After graduating, she practiced as a physician assistant in Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio with a concentration in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery and ICU care. In 2006, she returned to Pittsburgh as a physician assistant in the Pediatric Intestinal Care Service. She then joined the Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh of UPMC in 2007 where she continued to practice for 15 years. Her responsibilities include assisting in the operating room, post-operative care of patients on the acute care floor, outpatient clinic visits, research, quality improvement, as well as precepting students. In 2015, Ms. Lowery obtained her Certificate of Added Qualifications in Pediatrics. She has served on the executive committee for the Pediatric Acute Care Cardiology Collaborative as well as past president, vice president and treasurer of the Society for PAs in Pediatrics.
