Biography
Neil E. Stahurski holds a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Organ Performance and the Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. While at Eastman, he was a student of the late David Craighead and the late Michael Farris. He also holds a Master's Degree in Sacred Music from Duquesne University where he studied with Ann Labounsky.
Neil served as Adjunct Professor of Organ at Franciscan University of Steubenville from 2018 to 2021. He was a Teaching Assistant at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York from 1994 to 1997, having taught Class Piano. He is currently the Director of Music Ministries at Assumption Church in Bellevue (Regina Coeli Parish).
As an organist, he has performed primarily in the northeast United States and Eastern Europe. He served as organ accompanist for the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh, appearing with them in concert and on CD in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Symphony Brass. He has also appeared in concert with the St. Vincent Camerata and the Children’s Festival Chorus of Pittsburgh.
As a composer, he was active with the OvreArts Organization, an organization of young composers in the Pittsburgh area. He has had original compositions performed on several concerts, with Heinz Memorial Chapel serving as the principal venue.
Additionally, he has been active on the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, serving on their Executive Board. He has also been active with the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Pastoral Musicians of the Roman Catholic Church.
