Patrick J. Sentner Named Director of Real Estate Program

Sentner, who will also serve as an instructor, brings more than 35 years of commercial real estate experience and an extensive network of industry relationships that will help position Duquesne students for success in one of the nation's largest and fastest-evolving industries.
 
Sentner currently serves as executive vice president at Colliers and has held leadership positions throughout his career with Colliers, CBRE and the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), where he served in multiple global leadership roles. Sentner has worked in nearly every sector of commercial real estate, including brokerage, development, investment and corporate services. He has built a reputation as an industry leader and passionate advocate for mentoring the next generation of real estate professionals. Sentner plans to keep working with clients at Colliers while leading Duquesne's program. 
 
As director, Sentner will oversee the growth of Duquesne's Real Estate program, strengthening connections between the classroom and industry while preparing students for careers in commercial and residential real estate, development, investment, asset management, brokerage, valuation, property management and related fields.
 
"For over a decade, I have recognized the need for higher educational opportunities for future real estate professionals," said Sentner. "When Duquesne University announced the launch of this much-needed program, I recognized that my experience and passion could play a crucial role in shaping and advancing the future of real estate in the region. I am honored to be involved in the development of Duquesne's program."
 
A graduate of Westminster College with an MBA from West Virginia University, Sentner has long been committed to higher education. He also has spoken with students at several universities about careers in commercial real estate and the skills required to succeed.
 
"As an industry professional, I understand the significant time and effort required to properly train new college graduates. My motivation to mentor and engage with students comes from recognizing a disconnect between their education and the essential knowledge needed to thrive in the real estate industry. At Duquesne, I am eager to help close that gap," said Sentner.
 
During his leadership with SIOR, Sentner championed initiatives that expanded student engagement with the commercial real estate profession, including sponsoring collegiate competitions and providing scholarships for students to attend SIOR conferences. He plans to bring that same commitment to Duquesne by creating meaningful connections between students and industry.
 
Through a thoughtfully designed curriculum featuring course-embedded cornerstone and capstone experiences, along with strong partnerships with industry leaders and professional organizations, Sentner aims to provide students with unparalleled exposure to the breadth of career opportunities in real estate. His vision is to help students discover where their interests and talents best fit within the profession while connecting them with mentors, internships and career paths.

The Real Estate program is housed in the Department of Economics and Finance at Duquesne's AACSB-accredited Palumbo-Donahue School of Business. The interdisciplinary program prepares students for careers spanning finance, development, investment, brokerage, valuation, asset management, property management and real estate strategy through a curriculum grounded in business fundamentals and experiential learning.
