The Department of Catholic Studies presents this special exhibit examining the largest Catholic conversion in history to mark Latinx and Hispanic History Month.

Join the Department of Environmental Health and Safety to become trained in the use of fire extinguishers, Stop the Bleed technique, CPR and operating an AED unit. Training will be provided by Duquesne University Public Safety and Summit Fire and Security.

In conjunction with the Grefenstette Center for Ethics in Science, Technology and Law, Associate Theology Professor Dr. Anna Floerke Scheid will present on how social media algorithms contribute to online radicalization and extremism. Attendees can bring their lunch; drinks and snacks will be provided.

Tuesday, Sept. 24, 12 p.m., Zoom: An Evolving Hydro-Political Order in the Horn of Africa: Major Themes, Trends and Players
This presentation attempts to illustrate the major trends that have influenced the current state of affairs in the Horn of Africa by emphasizing two notable themes: energy development and maritime trade. The event features Dr. Samuel Tefera Alemu, scholar-in-residence for the Center for African Studies. Attendees are asked to register online by Monday, Sept. 23. 
 
Tuesday, Sept. 24, 12 to 1 p.m., via Zoom: Virtual CETR Journal Club
Join Dr. Christopher L. Harris for an informal discussion on the significant and timely issue of the book-banning phenomenon and its impact on Black and Brown teachers. Presented by the Center for Community-Engaged Teaching and Research. Registration is open online.

Join the political science department on two separate evenings where populism will be debated by renowned political experts Thomas Frank and Daniel Ziblatt. Frank will defend populism on Sept. 26, and Ziblatt will follow with a challenge on Oct. 8.
