Summer at the University brings more than warm weather—it invites exploration. The University is hosting several hands-on camps and workshops this summer in science, music, and the health professions for middle and high school students.
For many participants, it’s also a chance to get sneak peek at Duquesne’s campus.
From mixing solutions in a research lab to rehearsing alongside fellow musicians or stepping into the fast‑paced health care simulations, these programs are built to ignite curiosity, build confidence and open doors to future academic pathways.
Monday, June 15, through Wednesday, June 17: The School of Science and Engineering’s STEM Summer Camp
Organized by the School of Science and Engineering, this camp invites students to
dive into real scientific inquiry. Participants will identify and discuss environmental
and scientific issues affecting the local community and conduct hands‑on experiments
in Duquesne’s state‑of‑the‑art laboratories. Apply by Friday, March 27.
Monday, June 15, through Friday, June 26: Mary Pappert School of Music and City Music Center’s Summer Music Series
Young musicians can choose from a variety of camps, workshops and intensives tailored
to different instruments, styles and skill levels. From classical training and jazz
immersion to performance coaching and ensemble work, the series provides a supportive
space to grow as artists while surrounded by Duquesne’s professional faculty and vibrant
music community.
Monday, June 15, through Wednesday, June 17, and Thursday, June 25, through Friday,
June 26: School of Pharmacy Exploration Day
For high school students curious about health care, Exploration Day offers a glimpse
into an in‑demand profession. These one‑day summer events go beyond the basics and
show that pharmacists do much more than fill prescriptions. Students will explore
the many career pathways within the profession and participate in hands-on skills,
including a SimMan patient simulation demonstration, pharmacy compounding techniques,
a mock emergency room scenario and more!
May through July: Summer Courses
Summer is also a great time to get ahead. Duquesne offers more than 600 courses and
special pricing each summer to help you get ahead, catch up, or focus on a single
subject.
