Over $100,000 in cash and service prizes are up for grabs in the fifth annual Duquesne New Venture Challenge (DNVC) hosted by the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business.
The three-stage business plan competition is open to entrepreneurs in the Pittsburgh region and beyond, and entrants may submit new venture ideas that have commercial and/or social missions.
Submissions will be accepted beginning on Monday, Aug. 28 and will close on Sunday, Nov. 12.
In Stage I, entrants will submit a short summary of their business along with a one-minute video pitch. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three video pitches. Up to 15 finalists will be selected to advance to Stage II.
During Stage II, semi-finalist teams will submit an executive summary, short business plan and a five-minute video pitch. Cash prizes will be awarded, and a panel of judges will select up to five finalist teams to advance.
Finalists will compete for a total of $40,000 in cash prizes, in Stage III. Finalists will submit an executive summary, full business plan and PowerPoint presentation, as well as make a live presentation to judges. The top three finalists will receive additional services prizes including legal education, consulting services and a meeting with School of Business leaders to discuss funding strategies.
