Biography

Mrs. Staltari is a Clinical Assistant Professor, and Clinical Education Coordinator, in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology. She has been a practicing speech-language pathologist for over 35 years, working with both pediatric and adult populations and has been with the university for 25 years. Her areas of specialty include communication and cognitive disorders that result from neurological impairment in the adult population. Additionally, best practices in clinical instruction and supervision for graduate student clinicians is an area of interest. Mrs. Staltari provides clinical instruction of student clinicians in individual and group sessions for the adult neurogenic population at the Duquesne University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, as well as in the Clinic Seminar courses.  She is also engaged in didactic coursework for both pre-professional and professional phase students. Specifically, Introduction to Communication Disorders and Clinical Procedures serve as a foundation for their clinical practicum experiences. Professional phase courses include Special Topics in clinical practice as well as essential information regarding in the Business Practices course to provide knowledge and skills when working with communication disorders across a variety of service delivery settings.
