Osteopathic physicians choose primary care settings at a higher rate than allopathic medical school graduates. They employ all tools traditionally associated with modern allopathic health care, plus a distinct form of hands-on diagnosis and treatment known as osteopathic manipulative medicine. While allopathic medicine often focuses on treatment, osteopathic medicine focuses on treatment and fosters a culture of wellness, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention.
