Step 1: Submit Your Application

(New application opens July 1 each year)

To apply, simply create a user profile and submit an application. There is no application fee. Upon submission, your applicant portal is created and populated with required checklist items including a prompt to schedule an audition and submit your audition portfolio. In addition to high school transcripts, you will also submit SAT or ACT scores (test-optional admission is available for music degrees).

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will review your application and issue a letter of provisional acceptance indicating you are academically fit for admission to the university and ready to move on to the audition phase. Academic Awards are issued along with the letter of provisional acceptance.

*Full acceptance to the Mary Pappert School of Music requires successful completion of the audition process in addition to receiving provisional acceptance.

Step 2: Complete Your Audition

(December 1 - March 1)

Submit your audition portfolio and register for an audition date using your applicant portal. Portfolios are submitted at least 1 week in advance of the scheduled audition. Auditions are coordinated and conducted by the school of music and can be completed in person or online. Once you register for a music audition, you will receive detailed communications to help you prepare and stay on track. The week prior to your scheduled audition, you'll receive a personalized audition day schedule that will contain the exact times and locations of your audition components. You'll receive official notification of audition results from the Mary Pappert School of Music typically within 7-10 days of your live music audition.  If you pass, you'll receive the Audition Award along with an official letter of full acceptance.

*We highly recommend completing the audition process by March 1 for maximum award consideration.

Step 3: Secure Your Award Package

(March 1 - May 1)

A cumulative review of all accepted students is conducted by faculty evaluators at the conclusion of the audition season. Enhancement Awards are offered to exceptionally talented applicants in addition to any previously awarded scholarships and range in value up to full-tuition coverage. Enhancement Awards require faculty nomination and are determined by faculty committee.

When you're ready, you can secure your award as well as your place in the incoming class by completing the Enrollment Response Form on your applicant portal and submitting an enrollment deposit. Enrollment decisions are due by May 1 for undergraduates. Our advisors will work with you to build your class schedule. Enrolled students will receive communications over the summer months with details regarding class schedules as well as move-in and orientation information.
