The Duquesne Choirs maintain an extensive performance agenda focused on artistic excellence, community engagement, and service to the University. Under the leadership of Dr. Caron Daley since 2015, the choirs perform across Pittsburgh and the region, including recent concerts in Johnstown, Cleveland, Erie, Buffalo, and Philadelphia. Dedicated to the Spiritan mission of the University, the choirs frequently partner with local faith and cultural organizations to create meaningful and sustainable collaborations. The Duquesne Choirs are open to all undergraduate and graduate music majors and to non-music majors with choral experience.

Voices of Spirit

Voices of Spirit is a 32-voice mixed choir dedicated to developing professional-level choral skills and presenting fresh, relevant performances. The choir is regularly invited to perform off-campus, including 2015 and 2021 performances with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and tours in 2017, 2018, and 2020. In 2018, Voices of Spirit served as the choir-in-residence for the American Choral Directors Association Eastern Division Conference Conducting Masterclasses. In 2019, Voices of Spirit performed at the National Collegiate Choral Organization Conference in College Park, Maryland. Each semester, the choir performs 3–6 concerts, including solo concerts and/or touring, collaborations with the Duquesne Symphony Orchestra and other instrumental ensembles, and school visits.

Pappert Chorale

Pappert Chorale is a 60-voice mixed choir that represents students in all music degree programs and majors from across the university. The ensemble tackles challenging repertoire from a wide array of historical periods and musical styles. Each semester, the choir performs 2–3 concerts, including large-scale collaborations with Voices of Spirit and Duquesne instrumental ensembles, School of Music events, high school visits, and regional choral festivals.

Duquesne - Pittsburgh Connection

I always loved performing at Trinity Cathedral. Being able to perform in such a beautiful building in the heart of Pittsburgh with such amazing musicians was a great blessing.

Pittsburgh provides remarkable performance opportunities for students in the choirs. Each year, students sing in unique spaces across the city, experiencing exquisite acoustics and sharing music with diverse audiences. We also enjoy frequent collaborations with area schools, community partners, and professional arts organizations.
