Where Mentorship Shapes Your Journey
At Duquesne, you will receive personalized attention and form mentoring relationships
with faculty. Our faculty are true teacher-scholars who care about your success and
will walk alongside you helping you to achieve your goals.
Become the Pharmacist Your Community Needs
These community values become part of your professional identity, too. Duquesne graduates
excel in building trust with their patients and are highly skilled collaborators—an
essential skill in today’s team-based healthcare environment.
The professors want us to succeed. I’m studying for my boards and they have been
so helpful in letting me know what areas to focus on. I feel prepared for anything.
As I got deeper into my college search, something just kept calling me back to
Duquesne. When I finally visited, it might be cliche to say, but, I genuinely felt
like I could see myself here making new friends and achieving my dream of becoming
a pharmacist.
Maggie WoodringPharm.D. Candidate, 2029
Duquesne was a top choice for me because they offer the 2+4 automatic acceptance
into pharmacy school if you complete your pre-professional pharmacy years there. That
showed me that they want their students who picked Duquesne in the beginning to have
a chance at their pharmacy school.
Carter KijowskiPharm.D. Candidate, 2028
One of the biggest reasons I chose Duquesne was the “home” feel around campus.
Although the Bluff is right next to Downtown Pittsburgh, Duquesne felt like its own
haven that could help me grow as a student and a professional.

For Renee Richardson, GP’09, the journey to her fulfilling career in pharmacy
was guided by a deep-rooted desire to help people and make a positive impact on her
community. Drawing strength from her interactions with others, Richardson’s passion
for health care and community service has led her to excel in her field and carve
out her own unique career path as a pharmacist.
“I always knew that I wanted to work with people. I love helping and teaching people,”
she recalled. It was a family friend, a school nurse, who recommended she explore
the field of pharmacy.
Intrigued by the blend of math, science and health, Richardson was drawn to this career
path. “I saw that pharmacy was an accessible profession that combined a lot of the
subjects I enjoyed most and it still allowed me to help people.”
