As a student pharmacist, you will embark on rotations at various sites throughout your academic career.
The Office of Experiential Education uniquely provides personal mentorship in selecting individual rotations for your career aspirations rather than relying solely on computer algorithms. We coordinate all practical experience hours required by ACPE and necessary for your graduation.
During your clinical practicums, you can develop your skills at renowned organizations, such as the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Health System, Allegheny Health Network, Cleveland Clinic, Eli Lilly & Co., Indian Health Services, and Johns Hopkins Hospital. We will partner with you to schedule available rotations so you can explore different career paths that align with your professional aspirations.
With over 1,740 hours of experience gained, our students reach their bigger goals to become empowered pharmacists in various fields.
Pharmacy Rotations
My rotation let me explore a side of pharmacy I became passionate about. Through
Continuous Professional Development courses, I was exposed to different areas of pharmacy
and discovered my enthusiasm for medical affairs and the pharmaceutical industry.
Duquesne also helped me develop professionalism, interpersonal skills, and adaptability
that allowed me to thrive.
Thanks to Duquesne’s IPPE experience, I was exposed to a vastly different side
of community pharmacy when compared to my previous work. This experience also helped
me better understand what I value in a future career.
Not being from Pittsburgh, the office of Experiential Education worked closely
with me to curate and find an IPPE 1 site that would work for not just me back home,
but other students in the area that could utilize the site as well. I was more than
appreciative that I had to opportunity to do my rotation at home with my family, and
Duquesne made that happen!
My rotations have been instrumental in advancing my development by enhancing
my clinical knowledge, communication skills, and professional judgement. These have
strengthened my ability to apply evidence-based medicine, collaborate effectively,
and provide patient-centered care.
