How do I apply?

Admission to the Mary Pappert School of Music involves a 2-step process. Applicants must first apply to Duquesne University and select "Bachelor of Arts in Music" as the area of academic interst. Once the application is submitted, applicants will then be prompted to schedule an audition The Mary Pappert School of Music evaluates applicants through a performance audition and an interview with faculty members. *Applicants for the BA program will complete an interview on the day of the audition at which time the applicant can express interest in the accelerated pathway.

After I complete the BA, do I have to reapply for graduate studies?

Yes. Our 3+1 and 3+3 accelerated pathways are not direct-admit programs, and students in the accelerated BA will need to reapply for graduate studies during the fall semester of year 3.

How is tuition calculated?

Undergraduate students in the accelerated BA program will pay Mary Pappert School of Music tuition rates for the three years of undergraduate. Once enrolled in the MBA–SBP, MSM, or JD the student will pay the applicable graduate tuition rates in the respective schools.

Are there scholarships available?

Yes. Each school has a unique scholarship and award structure. Financial aid for undergraduate music study would come from the Mary Pappert School of Music, whereas the aid for graduate study would come from either the Palumbo Donahue School of Business or the Duquesne University School of Law.

What are the options for completing summer courses required for the accelerated BA?

Required summer courses are all general elective studies and can be completed on Duquesne's campus or online, if applicable. Students staying on campus during summer months may qualify for a free room. Learn more about summer housing and meal plans.

Can I earn a minor while pursuing the accelerated BA?

Yes. With the flexibility of the BA program it is easy to use general elective credits to fulfill the requirements for a minor in entrepreneurship.

Can I decelerate the BA program?

Yes. The BA program can be decelerated at any time if the pace of the course work becomes too overwhelming. You can also elect to pursue the BA in 4 years and still complete your graduate degree in business in 1 year or law in 3 years.
