STEM Summer Camp

Monday, June 20 - Friday, June 24, 2022 I 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

The Duquesne University's Bayer School STEM Camp is sponsored by a grant from the Howmet Aerospace Foundation.

High school students from local Pittsburgh area schools are invited to apply for a horizon-expanding STEM learning experience at Duquesne University. Through interactive STEM program activities with Duquesne faculty and student mentors, students will identify and discuss to various environmental and cultural factors impacting our community.

How to Apply

  • Applications must be completed by Parents/Guardians no later than Monday, May 2, 2022
  • Applications must include the following documents:
    1. A copy of the student's current high school official transcript
    2. A letter of recommendation from their high school science or math teacher and/or counselor
  • Parents/Guardians will be notified by email about their students' acceptance by Monday, May 16, 2022

Key Program Details

  • Students who complete the full 5-day program will receive $500
  • 5-day learning experience is daily from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided for free to all students
  • Camp activities will mostly occur on Duquesne's campus at the Bayer School's Mellon Hall
  • Participants (with parent permission) will take field trips to off campus locations

Application Requirements

Students must be from Pittsburgh area high schools who are:

  • Entering as sophomores or juniors for the fall 2022 school year
  • Academically focused with a current minimum overall GPA of 2.75
  • Available to participate in all aspects of the program, including pre-program meetings
  • Curious about STEM to maintain a daily journal throughout the entire program
  • Creative thinkers who will present their Camp learnings to their peers on the final day
