The Duquesne China-Health Institute (DCHI), part of the John G. Rangos, Sr. School of Health Sciences, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (United States), is a unique global partnership and health service initiative established in 2013 in collaboration with multiple Chinese Universities and hospitals. 

Graduate students who successfully complete the year-long DCHI program will receive a specialty Master's degree that is recognized as an advanced practive degree in China:

  • Physical Therapy (MPT)
  • Occupational Therapy (MOT)
  • Speech-Language Pathology (MSLP)

DCHI also currently has 11 doctoral students who are enrolled in a DCHI-specific PhD program of Health Sciences.

Curricula for the MPT, MOT, MSLP and PhD in Health Science Programs are below.

Master of Physical Therapy (30 Credits)

Fall- 11 Credits

This MPT program is not accredited by the Commission on Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Further, completion of this program does not make graduates eligible to sit for the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE).

This MOT program is not accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). Further, completion of this program does not make graduates eligible to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certification Exam.

Master of Speech-Language Pathology (30 Credits)

This MSLP program is not accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA). Further, completion of this program does not make graduates eligible to sit for the Speech-Language Pathology Praxis Test. 

Ph.D. in Health Sciences (72 Credits)

(Up to) 18 credits - Transferred in from Master's degree based on close review and analysis of previous graduate-level transcripts
18 credits - Core curriculum (at least 9 credits of Research Design / Statistics)
18 credits - Specialty Area
18 credits - Dissertation
