Biography
Dr. Krause joined the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures as Department
in 2004 and served as chair from 2004-2019. She has also held full-time and chair
appointments at the University of Minnesota at Moorhead and Angelo State University
(Texas Tech University System). Her principal interests include 19th- and 20th-century
German literature and culture, literature and film, literature and philosophy, comparative
literature, feminist perspectives in literature and language pedagogy. With her publications
on Theodor Fontane, she has enriched translation and reception studies. Her recent
work includes a Kristevan approach to Kafka's The Metamorphosis and Patrick Süskind's
novel Das Parfum and one of the first detailed comparative studies of German and Spanish
realist novels by Theodor Fontane and Leopoldo Alas "Clarín."
