Biography

Marlo earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Denison University and a Master's of Management Science from Carnegie Mellon University. After an initial career outside of Education, Marlo obtained a Pennsylvania Teaching Intern Certificate and continued work to obtain a Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate through Carnegie Mellon University.

Marlo's teaching career has included: Marching Band Director/Burgettstown Area Jr.-Sr. High School, Musical Director/Burgettstown Area Jr.-Sr. High School, Musical Director/South Side Area High School, Vocal Music and Adapted Music/Moon Area Middle School, Elementary General Music/Moon Area School District, and Choir Director/Mt. Lebanon High School.

Currently, Marlo is the Vocal Music teacher at Mellon Middle School in the Mt. Lebanon School District where she directs three grade-level ensembles, and one auditioned a cappella ensemble, The MelloTones. Under her direction, the 8th Grade Chorus consistently has received Superior ratings in competition, and the MelloTones have been invited to perform at many local events including Pittsburgh Panthers basketball and Washington Wild Things baseball.

Marlo is a current member of PMEA and ACDA-PA, and has served numerous times as the accompanist for PMEA events.

As a student of piano, Marlo has studied with Mr. William Hudgins, Chair of Music Department, Washington and Jefferson College, and Dr. Keith Ward, Associate Professor of Music, Denison University. While at Carnegie Mellon University, Marlo was mentored by Dr. Natalie Ozeas, and Dr. Robert Dell.

In addition to working in the Mt. Lebanon School District and Duquesne University, Marlo continues to operate a private piano studio in her home.
