Biography

Steven Schmidt is a 2011 graduate of Duquesne University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. He also holds a Master's of Science degree in Instructional Design and Technology from Walden University. Steven is an Adjunct Professor of Music Education at Duquesne University. He also teaches Kindergarten through Fifth Grade General Music and Chorus at Bradford Woods Elementary School in the North Allegheny School District. He is also conductor of the Talisman Choir for the Pittsburgh Youth Chorus. PYC is Pittsburgh's Premiere Children's Choir and works closely with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Opera, and recently, the Chautauqua Institute. Steven also serves as a vocal coach and staging director for the North Allegheny Middle School musical productions. He has been asked to guest conduct and present at different Elementary Sing Festivals throughout the state of Pennsylvania as well as the PMEA state convention.

Steven is a member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, The National Association for Music Education, and the American Orff-Schulwerk Association. He has been asked to present at the annual PMEA Conference, Fairfax County Public Schools, Duquesne University, and North Allegheny. Under his leadership, the Talisman Choir has performed at the annual PMEA State Convention and toured to the DC Metro Area, Philadelphia, and the International Children's Choir Festival in London, England under the direction of Henry Leck. His Bradford Woods Singing Tigers ensemble has performed at the PMEA State Convention. Steven has his Orff Certification Levels I and II.
