More than 4,000 people are expected to attend the August Wilson Block Party, which celebrates the two-time Pulitzer Prize winner's birthday and the legendary Pittsburgh neighborhood where he grew up. The party will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Bedford Avenue in Pittsburgh's Hill District.
Duquesne University student pharmacists, faculty, pharmacy residents will be joined by Giant Eagle pharmacists at the event to conduct blood pressure assessments, body composition analysis, glucose testing and cholesterol screenings. The August Wilson Block Party also will feature a variety of festivities, including vendor food trucks, singers, dancers and performers, and children's activities.
The Duquesne University School of Pharmacy and Giant Eagle Pharmacy have a long-standing relationship in their commitment to educate future pharmacists and promote positive health outcomes of patients and their communities. Funding support for the complimentary screenings is being provided by Paramount Rx.
