Recently there has been an increase in the number of phone scams on our campus. Several employees have received phone calls from a Private Number. The caller asks questions about printer and copier equipment in the department.

The scammer's goal is to get contact information from the employee and specific information about printers or copiers in the department. The scammer's ultimate goal is to begin sending overpriced toner to the department based on the information provided to them.

If someone calls you and says that he or she is a vendor or a Duquesne employee and begins asking for information about your office equipment or the names of people in your office, you should:

#1 Ask them for their contact information and say you will call them back
#2 Contact the proper Duquesne department to determine if the request is legitimate

If you have any questions about your copiers or printers, please contact the CTS Help Desk at X4357 or email at help@duq.edu
