MFA Methods and Devices

Graphic: Duo MFA Devices

Devices you own, such as a mobile phone or Apple Watch, can be enrolled in Duo. Computing and Technology Services (CTS) recommends registering at least two devices. This way, if your primary device becomes unavailable for any reason, you will be able to use your other enrolled device(s) to continue logging into Duo-enabled services.

Duo Mobile App

Download the Duo Mobile app on your mobile phone, tablet or Apple Watch for the most convenient MFA option. Use the Duo Push feature to approve an MFA login request by simply tapping "approve" on a push notification.

How it works: Select Send Me a Push on the Duo login prompt, open the push notification on your device and tap Approve.

Duo Hardware Token

Generate a one-time passcode you can enter into the Duo login prompt. Duo hardware tokens are available for purchase at the Computer Store. After purchasing your Duo hardware token, contact the CTS Help Desk to register it with your Duo account.

How it works: Select Enter a Passcode on the Duo login prompt, press the button on your hardware token to generate a new passcode, type it into the space provided and click Log In.

YubiKey

Yubico YubiKeys allow you to quickly authenticate into Duo by tapping the USB device. YubiKeys are available for purchase at the Computer Store. After purchasing your YubiKey, contact the CTS Help Desk to register it with your Duo account.

How it works: Select Enter a Passcode on the Duo login prompt and tap the button on the security key to automatically generate a passcode.

Landline Phone

Answer a call to your landline phone and follow the steps to approve your MFA login request.

How it works: Select Call Me on the Duo login prompt, answer the call to your phone and press 1 to log in.
