Box Cloud Storage


Duquesne students, faculty and staff can use Box to store, share and access academic documents from anywhere.

Accessing Box

Go to to access Box. On this page, you will be presented with a welcome screen asking if you are part of Duquesne University. Click Continue to be directed to a Duquesne University login page, where you can sign in with your MultiPass username and password.

Using Box

Uploading Files

  1. Go to and sign into your account.
  2. Click Upload and select whether you are uploading a file or folder.
  3. Use your device's file browser to locate the folder you want to upload.

After the file or folder is uploaded, Box will display a message indicating it was uploaded successfully.

Creating Shared Links

Shared links let you quickly copy and share hyperlinks to content stored in Box with your coworkers and classmates, both inside and outside Duquesne.

  1. Go to and sign into your account.
  2. Hover over the file or folder you want to share and then click the Share button.
  3. Click the Enable shared link slider to create a shared link.
  4. Click Invited People Only to choose the permission level for the shared link.

You can also customize the link settings of your shared link, such as setting an expiration date or customizing the link.

Inviting Collaborators

A collaborator is someone you invite into a file or folder. When you add someone as a collaborator, the item appears in their Box account.

If you send a collaboration invitation to a person without a Box account, Box prompts that person to sign up with Box before being able to access the content.

  1. Go to and sign into your account.
  2. Hover over the file or folder you want to share and then click the Share button.
  3. Type the name or email address of the collaborator.
  4. Click Invite as Editor to choose whether you want to invite the collaborator as an editor or reviewer.
  5. In the Message field, type a message of up to 750 characters for the collaborator.
  6. Click Send.

Box Drive

Box Drive is a desktop application that keeps all your files safe and secure in the cloud while providing access to them on your computer.

Employees using a University-managed computer can download Box Drive in Software Center (Windows) or Self Service (macOS). If you are using a personal computer, visit to download Box Drive.

Box Mobile

Box Mobile allows you to create, view, edit and share content on your mobile device.


What data should be stored in Box?

Box has been reviewed by Duquesne University’s Information Security team and has been approved for storing internal and public institutional data. Restricted data (personally identifiable information and compliance regulated data) is currently not supported in Box.
