Theology and University Colloquy

The Theology and the University Colloquium was interfaith in its composition and focus. Colloquy members participated from the following university-based institutes and centers that are tasked with stewarding the intellectual traditions of diverse religious communities:

  • Catholic Institute for Lasallian Social Action, St. Mary's College
  • Center for Catholic-Jewish Studies, St. Leo University
  • Center for Faith and Public Life, Fairfield University
  • Office of Mission & Identity, University of Detroit Mercy
  • Joan and Ralph Lane Center for Catholic Studies and Social Thought, University of San Francisco
  • Orthodox Christian Studies Center, Fordham University

At the inaugural meeting at Duquesne University in March 2018, the group identified bodies of expertise to share, raised programmatic questions, and imagined several innovative projects and outcomes. During the course of the project, the group continued to focus on the value of religious traditions in advancing institutional missions as well as the common good. Toward this goal, four members received innovation grant awards to support new programs and cross-institutional collaboration.  Members also convened for a Media & Messaging workshop at Auburn Theological Seminary for a full-day program aimed to help scholars develop and share faith-based messages more effectively on a variety of platforms.
