Welcome from David J. Dausey

Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Welcome to Duquesne University!

We are grateful that you are joining the ranks of our esteemed faculty and confident that you have much to offer our students. The faculty are at the very heart of Duquesne. They share their time and talents to create transformational learning experiences for our extraordinary body of nearly 10,000 students. Our faculty are diverse in their backgrounds, experiences, and academic pedigrees but they all have one thing in common: a strong desire to have a positive impact on the lives of their students through teaching excellence and the pursuit of truth and knowledge.

As the nation's only Spiritian university, Duquesne has built a strong - and still growing - reputation for promoting the highest standards of excellence in liberal and professional education, for fostering moral and spiritual values in all areas of its work, for creating an ecumenical atmosphere on campus that actively welcomes and celebrates diversity, and for serving others here in Pittsburgh and throughout the world. Today, we look to you to contribute your own gifts to sustain and indeed enhance that reputation.

We recognize the paramount importance of providing our faculty members with the resources they need to successfully engage, mentor and teach our students so that they can excel. The Center for Teaching Excellence is a critical part of these efforts offering faculty a wide array of resources including orientations, workshops, book studies, one-on-one consulting, and online and print resources. This website is designed to provide give you an overview of these resources and help you get started.

I wish you all the best as you embark on your first semester on the Bluff!

Sincerely,

David J. Dausey
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
