Driving, Insurance & Claims Information
All drivers MUST be approved by the office of Risk Management.
To apply for driving privileges please complete the Application for Driving Privileges and send via email or fax.
Once your application has passed an MVR check you will be required to complete a training program before being approved to drive.
Departmental Policy and Procedures for Driver Safety and University Insured Vehicle Use and TAP No.38 provide guidelines and expectations of University drivers operating University vehicles.
Duquesne University is currently insured by Travelers Auto Insurance.
This insurance covers any damages or losses to University owned, leased or rented vehicles.
Any employee involved in an auto accident or fender bender (large or small) should fill out an Auto Accident Form (located under forms in the menu to the left). If another party/vehicle is involved in the accident you must contact Risk Management to provide more information.
All claims should go through the Risk Management office, please do file a claim on your own.
*If you are involved in an accident on campus contact campus police to file a report.
If you are renting a vehcile you may print or save a copy of the Duquesne University auto insurance card.
*Duquesne insurance may only be used for Duquesne business, not personal use unless approved by RiskMgmt.
When employees are renting vehicles they should:
1. Use a University P-card when possible
2. Waive the rental company's insurance when renting a vehicle in the U.S. (rentals are covered under our auto policy) *International rentals not covered.
Duquesne University currently has an Agreement in place with Enterprise Rental Agency which entitles you to 5% off the best rate available at time of rental when using our code.
