Senior Vice President for University Advancement
Jim Miller was named Senior Vice President for University Advancement with the enthusiastic support of the board of directors in October 2021. He previously served a long tenure as associate vice president and senior advisor to the president for leadership giving.
Duquesne's current capital campaign being led by Miller and his team is setting University records. In his role heading the Division of Advancement, Miller is injecting new energy and urgency into their work, forging strong relationships with his peers and demonstrating a compelling sense of what is possible-earning him the necessary trust and support to pursue and achieve very ambitious goals for Duquesne.
University offices and departments under Miller's direction include Annual Giving, Leadership Annual Giving, Major Giving, Planned Giving, the Duquesne University Scholarship Association, Alumni Engagement, Donor Relations, Advancement Communications, Advancement Research, Advancement Services, and Conference and Events Services.
Miller has worked in various advancement capacities at Duquesne for nearly 34 years. During his time at the University, he has worked on three successful capital campaigns: Advancing our Legacy (2008-2012), Celebration of Excellence-Opportunity of a Lifetime (1995-1999) and Spirit of the 90s (1987-1993).
After he earned a bachelor's degree in business, management and marketing from Duquesne in 1987, he joined the Division of Advancement that same year.
