Undergraduate Education Programs

School of Education professors are really helpful. They always put their hand out and extend extra resources with students...I had a lot of schools interested. I took a visit to Duquesne and fell in love with it.

I chose Duquesne because its education program stood out from many of the other schools that I visited...You could tell there was a focus on teaching and that the School of Education truly cares about the quality of teachers they are creating...Seeing this passion and genuine love for education, I immediately knew it was something I wanted to be a part of!

Duquesne's program equipped me with the knowledge, flexibility & strategies I need to meet the diverse needs of all learners effectively. By gaining expertise in both general & special education, I learned the importance of creating inclusive classrooms where every student has the means & support to succeed & feel included.

Duquesne's School of Education has effectively allowed me to make meaningful relationships with my students and impact them in positive ways. Without the School of Education, I would have never met some of the amazing students I have.

I had multiple teachers who were Duquesne alumni who had such good teaching styles, and I knew that coming to Duquesne I would get the best education and experience...

Once you get into the classroom and you are with the kids and you're trying different things and you're watching for that light bulb moment, it makes it all worth it...it just all makes sense, so just give it a try.

My goal is to become a special education teacher who not only meets students' individual needs, but also advocates for equity & accessibility...The experiences I've had here have given me a strong foundation to advocate for students often overlooked, build trusting relationships with families, & promote inclusion.

Duquesne's School of Education helped to prepare me to make an impact in education by providing me with numerous, relevant field experiences.  Duquesne's caring professors fostered learning environments that accelerated my professional growth.

Duquesne University prepared me to make a meaningful impact...by providing a strong foundation in child development, instructional strategies and inclusive practices. The hands-on experiences in classrooms, combined with mentorship...gave me the confidence and skills to support young learners during their most formative years.

Throughout my journey, I have grown to become a devoted and hard-working advocate in my present and future classrooms where Duquesne has truly framed my mindset to ultimately create a positive impact on all my students.

My degree from Duquesne's School of Education has provided me with ample learning opportunities in various classrooms in the Pittsburgh area. By having all these experiences throughout my education, I have been able to learn directly from expert teachers and work with them to teach students.

My degree has prepared me to make an impact in the classroom because each class & field experience has taught us to adapt to our surroundings & be able to individualize instruction to each child's needs...equipped me with the skills & knowledge to be able to make a difference in & out of the classroom.

There are many more careers out there that you can choose from. Some more lucrative, some with more flexibility, some that may feel more honored but your choice allows you to impact thousands of students. One lesson at a time! One conversation at a time! One student at a time!
