UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh named Diane Hupp as their new president. Hupp earned both her master's in Nursing Administration and bachelor's in Nursing from Duquesne University; she continues to remain active at the School of Nursing, and presently serves on the Dean's Advisory Board. Hupp began her career at UPMC Children's 36 years ago as a volunteer. Through the years, she served in various administrative leadership roles, to most recently serving in a dual role as chief nursing officer and vice president of Patient Care Services and vice president of Operations.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Hupp has been at the forefront leading the response efforts at UPMC Children's and integral to the success of UPMC's COVID-19 community vaccination efforts, leading coordination of the largest drive-through mass vaccination clinic in partnership with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

With Hupp's leadership, UPMC Children's has achieved two Magnet® designations with work in progress toward a third. Her vision and leadership led to the opening of a hospital-within-a-hospital concept, bringing the expertise of UPMC Children's to Central Pennsylvania. She also spearheaded a pediatric transplant network on the East Coast to include University of Virginia and Florida Hospital for Children, training and providing leadership to ensure more opportunity for children awaiting transplant.
Hupp earned a master's degree in Nursing Administration, and a bachelor's degree in Nursing from Duquesne University, and a doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Pittsburgh.
