Libby Bunk, Pharm.D., Director of the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy Center for Pharmacy Care received $175,000 in additional funding from the Centers for Disease Control passed through the Allegheny County Health Department, to develop continuing education to help reduce stigma around opioid use disorder for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and student pharmacists. It also will expand the Center for Integrative Health community health screening program to include community-based substance use disorder screenings, referrals to care and education targeting priority communities in Allegheny County.

Roxanne Kim, a pre-medical student under the mentorship of Rehana Leak, Ph.D., associate professor of pharmacology with the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy and Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, received a $2,500 Summer Student Fellowship from the Parkinson's Foundation to support the project Limbic-centered Alpha-Synucleinopathy and DNA Repair Function.
Mustafa Bookwala, a Ph.D. student under the guidance of Peter Wildfong, Ph.D., associate professor of pharmaceutics with the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy and Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, received a $10,000 grant as part of Bookwala's being named the first NIPTE Rigaku Summer Research Scholar from the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Technology & Education (NIPTE) and Rigaku to support a research project at the Rigaku Laboratory in Houston, TX.
Patrick Flaherty, Ph.D., associate professor of medicinal chemistry with the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy and Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, received a $5,148 Faculty Development Fund grant to support the project Development of Allosteric Modulators and Protein-Protein Inhibitors of SARS-CoV-2 RdRp.
