CETR Journal Club: Promoting Scholarship and Building Community

  • 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
  • Online Via Zoom

We are excited to continue our CETR Journal Club in October with Dr. Liliana Castrellón, Assistant Professor, Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership. Dr. Castrellón will present her research on higher educational experiences of undocumented students. Specifically, she will speak to her published manuscript "As soon as they hear ‘undocumented' they stop advising": Theorizing a (sub)conscious evasion of responsibility from institutional agents to undocumented students (2021). This research nuances which students are included in the "all students" narrative, as undocumented students in this study argue that they are not included in institutional discourses and resources meant to serve "all students". Implications from this study advance the urgency to train institutional agents to meet the needs of undocumented students and proposes that educational institutions become undocuready in an effort to be inclusive of all students.
