Fall CETR Writing Retreat
- 9:00 AM to 2:45 PM
Come for part or all of the retreat to reignite your writing! It's time to dust off that shelved writing project or bring a new idea to the table.
Patti Clayton (www.curricularengagement.com) will join us again for our Fall CETR Writing Retreat to continue our reflection on our work as practitioner-scholars of community-campus engagement, especially as that work takes the form of writing. Patti has co-authored over 75 publications (from blog posts to research articles to reflective essays) and frequently served as a peer reviewer and editor (formally and informally). In our conversation during the retreat, she will share some of her personal experiences with what she calls community engagement as scholarship (CEaS): a catch-all phrase that focuses on the processes of generating, critiquing, and disseminating more than the rhetorical distinctions between such categories as Scholarship of (Community-Engaged) Teaching and Learning, Scholarship of Engagement, and Community Engaged Scholarship (in other words, all are welcome here and all share commitments to high-quality community-campus engagement and high-quality scholarship). Retreat participants will help determine which examples from Patti's work we reflect on and what types of meaning we draw from them and will make connections with their own practitioner-scholarship.
In this context, we will also explore possibilities for contributing to a new publication opportunity through the Center for CETR. We hope you will join us to learn more!
