Monthly Journal Club

The CETR journal club intends to be a space where faculty and community partners can come together and learn about community-engaged scholarship. Each meeting will begin with a brief 10 minute presentation of a paper, followed by group discussion. The presentation and discussion will pay particular attention to the components of the work that are about community engagement. Refreshments will be provided. If you have any questions or if you like to RSVP, please contact us at cetr@duq.edu or call us at x5893

Community-Engaged Research Methods Forum

This new forum is designed as a shared space where community-engaged faculty, community partners, and students can engage in conversations which leades to a better understanding about methods, processes, and content related to commmunity-engaged research.

Gaultier Fall Brown Bag Workshop: Working Toward a Model of Sustainable Partnerships

The Gaultier Fellows will moderate a panel consisting of representatives from agencies and non-profits, community residents, and students who have participated in their community-engaged projects. This panel will focus on "Working Toward a Model of Sustainable Partnerships" and consider topics including programming and assessment. This event will also offer a helpful networking opportunity for faculty facing challenges with assessment and community-engaged teaching and/or research.

Campus to Community Excursion

This year's excursion is more than a guided bus tour, it is an immersive experience that is not to be missed! Along the way, we will be joined by commuunity members and others who were raised in, live in, work in, and LOVE the Hill. Community members will share with us their stories and lived experiences of life on the HIll while we visit spaces and places in the community with their own interesting stories waiting to be told. We will learn about the neighborhood's past, present, and excitinbg plans for the future. Our guide, Terri Baltimore, has a few fun surprises planned for our journey along with delicious food!

Fall Social Justice Internship Fair

Would you like to get engaged in work that makes a lasting change in your community? Join us for Duquesne's inaugural Social Justice Internship Fair. Students from any major and all departments are invited to network with agency representatives, learn about the organizations, find out the positions that are available and what makes an applicant a good fit.

PB&J Wednesdays with Commuter Affairs

Co-Sponsored by CETR & Commuter Affairs

Every Wednesday at noon, a different school or department on campus comes to the Commuter Center lobby and makes complimentary peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for commuter students. This is a great way for students to meet faculty and staff from all across campus and interact with them outside of a formal setting. PB&J Wednesdays are popular among faculty, staff and students. CETR intends to use this opportunity to cultivate visibility for CETR and its associated student-facing programs --- the Justice Through a Spiritian Lens Series.

Community UnCorked

Join us for cocktails and community building! The Gaultier Fellows, their community partners, and CETR invite you for refreshments and an informal discussion about balancing student learning goals and community priorities to create high-impact, community-engaged experiences. Faculty, students, and community partners at all stages of project and course development and all levels of familiarity with community engagement are welcome. Cheese, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.
