Biography

Amy Rucker received bachelors' degrees in piano performance and music education from The Ohio State University and a master's degree in piano pedagogy from Southern Methodist University. She currently serves on the faculty at Duquesne University teaching Group Piano for music majors and supervising student teachers in choral music education. Ms. Rucker taught in the Piano Pedagogy Department at SMU in Dallas, Texas, supervising graduate students in the renowned Piano Preparatory program. An accomplished horn player, Ms. Rucker enjoys conducting, directing musicals, and leading various ensembles. She has taught K–12 general music and choir and continues to accompany soloists and choirs. She has performed in choirs in Bern, Switzerland; Coventry, England and was the featured pianist for a choral and instrumental concert in Moscow, Russia. She is a National Teacher Trainer for Musikgarten, and is currently serving as Past President of ECMMA, as well as the Committee for Young Musicians (birth to 9), NCKP. Ms. Rucker holds Level III Certification through ECMMA.
