Dr. Dorothee Landgraf LL.M., adjunct professor at the Duquesne University School of Law, is a German qualified attorney, a German Doctor of Law and a US Master of Laws (LL.M.). She is also a consultant to the Duquesne Law School’s international program, both the German exchange program and the Duquesne study abroad program.

Before moving to the US, Dr. Landgraf worked as an attorney at the German law firm P+P Pöllath + Partners in Munich, Germany. During this time, she advised German and foreign shareholders, investors, boards and management on issues of entity formation, reorganization, and daily corporate activities. Dr. Landgraf also provided due diligence and counseling for national and international corporate transactions.

During a two-year clerkship, Dr. Landgraf worked at the international law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in Cologne, Germany in the area of corporate law and M&A. During her clerkship time, she also advised German clients in international custody conflicts and foreign maintenance actions at the Federal Office of Justice, in Bonn, Germany, and clerked at the prosecutor’s office and the Civil District Court in Cologne.

Born and raised in Germany, Dr. Landgraf studied law at the University of Cologne and the University of Konstanz, Germany, and was awarded the first LL.M. for foreign lawyers from Duquesne University School of Law. Dr. Landgraf published her doctor thesis about the recognition of corporations under the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce, and Navigation between the US and Germany. For the time of her academic studies in Germany and the US, she was a scholarship holder of the Cusanuswerk - Bischöfliche Studienstiftung, a catholic endowment.
