Professional Background

Ms. Jessica Bellas is a certified project manager and professionally licensed civil engineer with over 25 years of experience working with a wide range of industries and Fortune 500 companies, academic institutions and governmental organizations in the US and China. She has worked as a regulator for a state agency, managed environmental remediation and sustainability projects as a consultant, served as an environmental coordinator at a Fortune 500 company and worked as a researcher at a municipal landfill.

She was twice-elected to public office in Wake County (North Carolina) and helped frame lasting and meaningful public environmental policy while working with a wide range of stakeholders.

While living in Hong Kong, Ms. Bellas worked as a project manager for the School of Design at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She worked on government funded research project to help Chinese electronics manufacturers achieve environmental compliance with three European sustainability directives.

While living overseas, she was selected to serve as a facilitator for the climate change group at former US President Bill Clinton's charitable foundation, Clinton Global Initiative Asia, in Hong Kong in December 2008.

Ms. Bellas is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (Bachelors of Civil Engineering Technology), University of Florida (Masters of Environmental Engineering), North Carolina State University (Masters of Public Administration) and the University of Hong Kong (Masters of International and Public Affairs). She also studied international affairs at Peking University in Beijing, China.

On a personal level, she is either traveling to a foreign country (50 and counting!) or planning her next trip to a foreign country. Her greatest passion is exploring new countries and cultures.
