John B. Hayes, Esq. has 40 years of legal experience as corporate advisor and civil trial attorney, serving as lead counsel in numerous jury and arbitration trials involving complex and high exposure medical and pharmaceutical malpractice, commercial construction, contracts, personal injury, wrongful death, products liability, auto, property owner liability and workers compensation cases.
He has practiced before Pennsylvania Courts of Common Pleas, Pennsylvania workers compensation judges and the Workers Compensation Appeal Board, Pennsylvania Superior and Commonwealth Courts, the U.S. District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania, and admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.
John has successfully negotiated favorable settlements in numerous cases through direct negotiations with other attorneys and in mediation; Advised business, professional and lay clients and insurance personnel, on legal matters related to risk management and liability prevention, liability and damage exposure, investigation, and trial and settlement issues, thus enabling them to avoid or limit liability.
He has served on boards of private and nonprofit organizations and advised on corporate, by-law, policy and procedure, ethical, employment, liability and insurance issues, as well as served as attorney / parent advocate in Juvenile Court for indigent parents in dependency and child neglect and abuse cases.
John serves as speaker or panelist at many seminars for professionals (physicians, health administrators, nurses, pharmacists, social workers and paralegals) on professional liability, litigation and other legal topics. Additionally, he has mentored attorneys in effective and ethical business and legal practice.
In addition to a J.D from Duquesne University School of Law, Mr. Hayes has an M.A. from Duquesne University and an M.S.W. from the University of Pittsburgh.
