Bio and Expertise

Theresa Marie Crytzer, PT, DPT, ATP is Faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy at Duquesne University. She has 20 years of clinical experience providing physical therapy and assistive technology to children and adults with neurological disabilities through her work at The Children's Institute, Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children, and UPMC Center for Assistive Technology.

Dr. Crytzer is also a clinician researcher who completed a National Institutes of Health T32 Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in the School of Medicine, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a master's level Certificate in Clinical Research from the Institute for Clinical Research. She completed a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Slippery Rock University and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Carlow University. She is a candidate in the PhD program in Rehab Science at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research interests include: (a) developing technology-supported healthy lifestyle behavioral interventions for people with neurological disabilities and (b) examining the impact of wheelchair seating/positioning on the pulmonary function of people with neurological disabilities.

She serves her the profession as Vice-Chair of the Rehabilitation Engineering Society of North America Standards Committee on Inclusive Fitness and APTA member. She serves her community as a member of the Housing Board of the Spina Bifida Association of Western Pennsylvania, member of the Ethical Review Board of the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children, and volunteer assistant coach for the HOPE Network Juniors Wheelchair Basketball Team. She serves Duquesne as a member of the Interprofessional Education Committee.
