Tim Burns joined Duquesne University School of Nursing as an Instructor in the Fall of 2018. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Utica College, his Masters of Science in Nursing with a Nurse Educator focus from the University of Central Florida, and is currently a PhD student at Saint Louis University. He is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Phi Kappa Phi, the Midwest Nursing Research Society, and the Emergency Nurses Association, having previously served as a delegate for the State of New York at the Emergency Nurses Association General Session. Tim has been named an NLN Jonas Scholar for 2018-2020.
Tim has over 30 years of experience in emergency nursing and pre-hospital emergency care. He has taught emergency nurses and pre-hospital providers in both the clinical and didactic settings. He has been published in the International Emergency Nursing journal, and regularly serves as a content reviewer for that publication. His research interests include stress and coping in the emergency department nurse.
