Why did you select this specific graduate program?

I chose the DNP program at Duquesne University because it aligned with my personal and professional goals. I was seeking an online doctoral program focused specifically on nursing education. In addition, I appreciated the core values of the school. The DNP program at Duquesne has been developed to impart doctoral level education (knowledge, skill and attitude) while meeting the needs of the diverse learners who are separated geographically.

How have you benefited from this program?

The DNP program has also been developed to align students with faculty mentors and Capstone Chairs who have a shared interest in student success and capstone project development, implementation and evaluation. This professional partnering is one of the most beneficial aspects of the DNP program at Duquesne University.

What has been your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?

The most significant challenge was learning how to be a fulltime employee and fulltime doctoral student while balancing family responsibilities as well. Organization is essential because life does not stop when you begin this adventure.

How would you describe the professors who teach the courses?

Faculty at Duquesne demonstrate care and compassion while upholding the standards necessary for doctoral education. Furthermore, they make themselves available for guidance and support as students navigate the doctoral curriculum.

Would you recommend the program to others looking to advance and what would you tell them about it?

I would recommend the DNP program to anyone who is serious about doctoral education and is willing to work to attain this goal

What do you hope to do once you've obtained your degree?

Upon completion of this degree, I plan to continue as a nursing instructor. I began this journey for myself but also want to have a positive impact on nursing education. I am already thinking about the next project and scholarship endeavor post-graduation.

What are your thoughts on the online educational experience?

The online educational experience at Duquesne is structured to meet the learning needs of all students and provides access to a variety of support services facilitating student success.
