Danell R. Cooper
Danell has spent almost thirty years working in her chosen profession of accounting. She had the opportunity to gain experience in public and corporate accounting, before finding her true calling in the non-profit sector. Danell spent the last twenty-two years either auditing or leading the accounting and finance department of Pittsburgh-area non-profit agencies and has also had the privilege of being an adjunct instructor in the Duquesne University accounting department since 2014.
Working in the non-profit field has allowed Danell to encounter so many wonderful organizations with tremendous and important missions. The number of non-profits in the Pittsburgh area has also provided her with the opportunity to give back to a cause she is passionate about: literacy. Danell has been lucky to be on the board of directors of the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council since 2002. The Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council is an efficient and effective organization that works to provide adult basic education, GED, and English as a Second Language instruction to residents of Allegheny County. Education truly is the key to a fulfilling life.
Danell believes that her liberal arts education at Westminster College and the MBA she earned from Duquesne have been the foundation of her challenging and rewarding career. She was honored to receive the James J. Byrne Award for Responsible Leadership while in the MBA program and also appreciated what she learned from Mr. Byrne in his Executive Insights course.
