Duquesne Sweeps 2020 Case Competition
Duquesne Sweeps the Annual PICPA/IIA Case Competition - Winning 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Place!
The annual accounting case competition, co-sponsored by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and the PA CPA Foundation, was held on Thursday, October 29th via Zoom. A total of 103 students, 19 teams and 4 universities participated.
Not only did our students learn about business cycles, controls, fraud risks, internal and external auditing, but they also showcased their skills in front of working professionals and stood out among regional universities. The students shared prize money of $4,000, co-sponsored by both organizations.
A special thank you to Chris Plasterr, Director of Internal Audit, Compliance and Risk Management Solutions at PwC, for coordinating the event.
Duquesne University placed FIRST!
"This is the first time we have taken first place. Up until this year, we have placed but never had the number one spot. I am very proud of our students. The winning team put the effort in, met with me many times, practiced and the dedication paid off," said Valerie Williams, Associate Professor of Practice in Accounting.
Duquesne also took the sweep! We won 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place--beating all other teams.
Congratulations to the #1 Winning Team!
