Ceremony Information

Duquesne University's School of Law will host a Commencement ceremony to celebrate the Class of 2020 on Friday, December 17, 2021.

The Commencement ceremony will be held in-person at 4:00 p.m. at the Cooper Fieldhouse, adhering to CDC Guidelines and University policies. This event will also be livestreamed .

Duquesne President Ken Gormley, former dean of the law school, will confer the degrees. Dean April Mara Barton will preside and Federal Magistrate Judge Maureen Kelly, L ‘87 will serve as the event's speaker.

Ceremony instructions for students: All graduates should report to the Auxiliary Gym on the first floor of the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse by 3:15 p.m. for robing and line-up. Graduates should enter via the Magee Street entrance - Gate B (Music School side).

Ceremony Instructions for Guests: Family members and guests should enter at the Forbes Avenue entrance where they will receive a Commencement Program. Doors will open at 3:00 p.m. If special seating accommodations for guests are required, please e-mail Ella Kwisnek, Associate Dean for Students, by Monday, December 13, 2021.

Parking: Parking will be provided in the Locust Street and Forbes Avenue Parking Garages. For special needs parking, call the Parking Office at 412-396-5267 by Monday, December 13, 2021.

  • If you do not have regalia, it needs to be ordered by November 22.

  • Certificates of Appreciation: If you would like to thank a loved one/friend who supported you through law school, Certificates of Appreciation are available. Complete the form online at by Friday, December 3, 2021. The certificate(s) will be signed by the Dean and given to you on graduation day.
