Law Alumni Invited to Judge 1-L Appellate Oral Arguments
The Legal Research and Writing Program invites law alumni to serve as judges for the first-year students, who will be presenting their appellate oral arguments via Zoom video conferences on Friday, April 9; Saturday, April 10; Friday, April 16, and Saturday, April 17. Alumni judges are critical to the success of this experience. Each argument will involve two students and will last approximately one hour. Four “judges,” usually three practicing attorneys and one Legal Research & Writing Program professor, will preside over each argument. Volunteers will judge four students for a two-hour session on a Friday afternoon, a Saturday morning, or a Saturday afternoon. Judges will be provided with the students’ briefs and supporting materials in advance. The COVID-19 restrictions have prevented us from our holding our traditional “in-person” oral arguments at the School of Law, but we hope the Zoom sessions will allow for greater participation by alumni who are not in the Pittburgh area.
