Tuesday Talks With Alumni - Jeffrey Fromknecht, L'12
- 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
Don't miss this new virtual lunchtime series starting September 8 at noon! Jeffrey Fromknecht, L'12, kicks things off with Nonprofits and Politics: A Beginner's Guide. Jeff is co- founder, CEO and managing attorney of SideProjectInc, a nonprofit that helps grassroots nonprofit organizations establish a strong foundation by helping them with legal and operational challenges.
In this 30-minute discussion, Jeff will address how nonprofits can engage in public policy debates about social issues without risking their tax-exempt status. Different types of nonprofits are better suited to engage in different types of advocacy strategies. This discussion will provide an overview of three common types of nonprofits, 501(c)(3)s, 501(c)(4)s, and Section 527 Political Organizations. Jeff will describe the differences between each and provide an overview of the types of lobbying and political activities each can engage in.
Q & A to follow the talk.
