Public Interest Law Assoc. online auction and crowdfunding campaign now live
The Public Interest Law Association (PILA) online auction and crowdfunding platforms are live. Both initiatives raise funds for PILA fellowships, which support law students working during summer placements in organizations that provide direct legal services to low-income and underserved individuals.
The PILA online auction 2018 offers an array of items to bid on, such as two Penguins vs. Canadiens tickets and an East Lot parking pass for Saturday, March 31, 2018. The seats are located in Section 122, Row G, seat 10 and 11. The package value is $275 and the minimum bid is $100. Another package features two tickets for Up and Away at The Cabaret at Theater Square in downtown Pittsburgh. The tickets are good for any Wednesday or Thursday evening until April 15, 2018. The package value is $85.00 and the minimum bid is $25. New auction items are added daily, according to Ella Kwisnek, assistant dean of students and vice dean of the evening division.
The PILA crowdfunding campaign is a new initiative seeking donations during a defined time period. Students in the PILA organization set a goal of raising $3,000 before April 19, 2018. Alumni who received PILA fellowships in past years, as well as law faculty, staff, and current students, are invited to support the crowdfunding initiative or the online auction.
