What Our Students Learn

The program's mission is to encourage students to:
  • Understand the causes of war, violence, and oppression.

  • Develop skills in conflict analysis and resolution.

  • Become aware of how conflict can be resolved without recourse to violence.

  • Gain a positive sense of social responsibility and knowledge of issues of justice, human rights, and ethics.

  • Develop skills and awareness needed for careers in teaching, law, diplomacy, journalism, politics, dispute resolution, and many other professional fields.

The program thus contributes in Duquesne University's mission to provide for its students not only intellectual breadth but also a moral and ethical foundation for their life-long personal and professional growth.
