Several departments in the College include specialized internships in their curriculums.
For those whose major or minor studies do not include an internship or for those who want to go beyond the experience offered in a department, Duquesne's Career Services Center helps to identify and oversee internships with employers in the Pittsburgh area, in collaboration with a faculty sponsor from the College. Students can register for internships offered in fall, spring and summer, for/from 1 to 12 credit-hours. (40 hours of work are required to earn one credit.)
To register for an internship, a student must have earned at least 60 credits and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.5.
The registration process begins with approval of the internship by the student's academic advisor, followed by execution of a learning contract, which is signed by the student, the supervisor at the work site, the faculty sponsor, the internship coordinator in Career Services, and the academic advisor, who then registers the student for the course.
