Jennifer Schlieper - B.A. (1996)
Jennifer Schlieper (Bachelor of Arts, 1996) is Co-Founder and Creative Director of Flying Scooter Productions, the company behind the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchetra's new digital concert series.
In the midst of a pandemic that shut down the globe, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra hired Flying Scooter Productions to create a docuseries that reaches into the community and shines the spotlight on artists and spaces for the world to treasure. With a production team that was lean when compared to productions of this scope, FSP conceived an episodic digital experience that would bring music, conversations, spaces and familiar faces around Pittsburgh to all for free. These episodes highlight the state of the nation while creating a narrative on communities and neighborhoods around the city of Pittsburgh. There are segments on Mister Rogers, playwright August Wilson, sculptor Thaddeus Mosley, artist Andy Warhol, architect Frank Lloyd Wright and more.
Schlieper's current work with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra has helped this beloved, internationally known, venue-driven, performance-based brand pivot into a digital experience. This episodic digital experience connects PSO subscribers, patrons and new viewers to a world beyond traditional classical and pops music. The PSO's FRONT ROW series weaves music with spaces, places and people throughout the Pittsburgh region; shining a light on others while offering the gift of music - to all - for free. The PSO purposed that the pandemic would not shutter their commitment to excellence but instead reinforce it by lifting others in the community. They transitioned an in-person experience to an at home experience that beautifully connects to their customers. All episodes from the series are available to the public on the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's website, pittsburghsymphony.org, as well as available for free On Demand for Comcast Xfinity customers in the Pittsburgh region.
After graduating from Duquesne University, Schlieper was hired at Ketchum, one of largest public relations firms in the world, without an ounce of PR experience, to lead one of the oldest and most respected house accounts. This began her calling card - to change the perception of what is expected and possible. Throughout her career, she has successfully launched brands for Heinz, GNC, Ernst and Young and MSA, winning national awards for her work and gaining the loyalty and respect from those who have worked with her. Her honest, "no is not an option" approach continues to leverage her creative background and business acumen building strategies that have turned companies into profit centers. From business-to-consumer to business-to- business to tech start-ups, she challenges the status quo. She has raised millions of dollars for non-profits by changing the narrative on giving. Schlieper is sought after not only for her business advice but also as a leader, speaking at various conferences throughout the country. As Co-Founder and Creative Director of Flying Scooter Productions, she continues to develop brands that make an impact.
